AFRICA NOW: exclusives and sneak previews

Batik, kasai and raffia wax prints…
The energy of African fashion is blowing down boulevard Haussmann

Discover exclusive men’s and womenswear lines influenced by the African style codes of designers Koché, JW Anderson, Atlein, Gkero, Rochas, N°21, Marco de Vincenzo, Isa Arfen, Walter Van Beirendonck.

Specially for this event, the women’s department on the 2nd floor welcomes Château Rouge as an exclusive. The label is upending traditional African wax clothing and giving it a resolutely urban feel.

As for menswear, LAURENCE AIRLINE  is setting up its pop-up store on the 2nd floor, from 2nd April until 27th June: traditional and technical materials, precise and fluid cuts, minimal and multi-faceted items…Pieces that have been designed and created between Europe and Africa and which carry the spirit of travel within them.

Zoom-in on the pop-up stores to check out during Africa Now:

The Max Mara Weekend is an exotic, awe-inspiring voyage in search of vast lands, where nature powerfully expresses its overwhelming beauty.

This is the Africa of geometric fabrics, splashes of colour, graphic symbols that creeps into the wardrobe of a modern, western explorer through its explosive creativity. The extravagant colour ranges of African fabrics take on unprecedented elegance as they meet the more linear, serious style of western aesthetics, in a mix of shapes and colours that gives a nod to the cultures and regions of the world.

Available from 27th March to 23rd April, on the 3rd floor of Coupole.

Furla presents “Pop-up Africa”, an exclusive capsule collection that will take you on an imaginary safari, into an unexpected world of greenery, flowers, colours and animals.

The new collection, influenced by the African continent, also includes seven exclusive bags for Galeries Lafayette, on display in the windows as well as the pop-up store.

Available from 19th April to 18th May on the ground floor of Coupole.

majeFrom the Maghreb to Tanzania, via the undulating dunes of the Sahara…This summer, the Maje woman is crossing the African continent alone.

What is she bringing? Shades of washed-out lavender, burnt sienna and vermilion. From oversized to structured concepts. Wild flowers. A short neo-djellaba in denim. Floaty over-layers. Flowing lace. Embroidered beads. A romantic adventurer’s wardrobe, always ready to travel.

Available from 27th March to 23rd April, on the 2nd floor of Coupole.

Born online in 2012, today Rad is the leading online streetwear brand. For the Africa Now operation, the brand is diving into African culture with a capsule collection in collaboration with Galeries Lafayette.

Taking ethnic inspiration, the collection reinterprets the codes of afro street-art with nods to several strong references such as hairstyles. In terms of patterns, wax and khanga themes provide a graphic, colourful style.

The result? Bright pieces that reveal the exoticism and joy of Africa.

Available from 27th March on the 2nd floor of Coupole.

The brands MSGM, ESSENTIEL and SESSÙN ET SŒUR have designed 4 brand new prints in the Africa Now colours.

Check them out in an exclusive line of 4 cotton Galeries Lafayette T-shirts, issued as a limited edition, at the affordable price of €29.

 Available from 2nd April.
