130 years of fashion and design
For 130 years, Galeries Lafayette has been evolving and adapting to trends and lifestyles in order to offer its customers the very best that the times have to offer. From the outset, Galeries Lafayette has forged close links with contemporary designers, in the belief that the diversity of their vision reveals the diversity of the world.
From the Art Nouveau dome to advertising campaigns, architects, artists and illustrators have all contributed in their own way to the brand’s identity. Discover 130 years of history and fashion through a selection of catalogues and documents from Galeries Lafayette’s historical archives.
The Galeries Lafayette archives
Over the last twenty years, Galeries Lafayette has built up a vast collection of priceless archives. The collection includes textiles, items of clothing and fashion-related documents, as well as administrative and advertising archives. Thanks to its team’s continual efforts to keep the archives alive and up to date, they retrace the department store’s history, its innovations and its impact on the world of fashion and commerce.
Today, the archives constitute a precious heritage, offering researchers, historians, enthusiasts and customers a unique perspective on the evolution of the sector over the decades.
