King’s cakes by the masters of flavour

Every January, the French celebrate Epiphany with a King’s Cake, or “Galette des Rois”. This traditional frangipane tart encloses a hidden lucky charm, baked into the cake. Whoever finds the charm in their slice is crowned King – or Queen – for the day. This year, our in-house chefs have whipped up a selection of delectable delights fit for a king!

Dalloyau & Gas Bijoux

The lucky charm: A jewelery charm (in Gas’ iconic Charlie design) that can be worn on a necklace or bracelet.

The surprise: Find one of 5 lucky charms stamped with “GAGNÉ” (meaning “winner” in French) and win a voucher worth 150€, valid for use in the Gas Bijoux online boutique only.

Pierre Hermé Paris x Maison d’orfèvrerie et arts de la table

The recipe: The Médélice cake is deliciously seductive : puff pastry with a lemon-flavoured almond cream and a homemade crispy praline. The sharpness of the lemon brings out the flavours of the roasted Piedmont hazelnut, whereas the flaky pastry combined with the crunch of the praline offers a remarkable explosion of taste.

The lucky charm: These Pierre Hermé Paris cakes serve as an unusual jewelry box for a unique surprise. Nestled inside you’ll find a Christofle charm, sporting clean lines and elegant curves inspired by the Maison’s Putman ring.

The surprise: If you are lucky enough to find a small white porcelain medal inside your cake, you will win a Vertigo calling card tray. You can collect your prize from a selection of Christofle boutiques until April 30th, 2019.

Available at Galeries Lafayette Gourmet, Ground Floor.

Chez Meunier
