A world as chic as it is poetic
Diving into the heart of the store’s archives, the illustrator immersed herself in a heritage still vibrant.
Her mission: to reinvent Christmas and pay tribute to the 1925 Decorative Arts exhibition and the peak of La Maîtrise, the historic applied arts workshop of Galeries Lafayette.
The result is a dazzling world, far from minimalism. Inspired by the very architecture of the place—the stairway flowers, the stained-glass windows of the dome, the gilded metal—Jeanne Detallante brought to life a highly colorful motif with Memphis accents that serves as a unifying thread.
In this enchanted world, the aesthetic and elegant Santa Claus is accompanied by a ribboned baby elephant and hat-wearing ducks. As for the elves, dressed in white, they scatter across the windows like snowflakes. A concept by Jeanne Detallante that is as chic as it is poetic.
