The chef

With two decades of experience, Chef Ankur Chakraborty invites you to explore the gastronomic riches of India’s regions. Butter chicken, paneer korma, naans… He is renowned for highlighting regional Indian cuisine in his restaurants, with a particular emphasis on using the highest quality ingredients.
Ankur has also been Managing Director of Tablez Food Company in the United Arab Emirates.
He has also worked alongside Michelin-starred Chef Atul Kochhar in the UK…
The idea for The Crossing was born out of Chef Ankur’s childhood travels across his native India with his family, who worked for the national railways.
He came to understand the richness and diversity of the culinary culture that India had to offer, and drew inspiration from this to develop the many recipes at The Crossing.
« The name is an ode to the complex network of the Indian railways which intertwines and connects one corner to the other and bringing closer – this great diversity of our nation »
A love story between a chef and the flavours of his home country
A genuine invitation to explore his native land, The Crossing invites us to taste his reimagined dishes, such as chaat, an emblematic street-food favourite for which he achieves a perfect balance of sweet and savoury. Our menu celebrates authentic Indian cuisine with a range of beloved classics and regional specialties — from creamy Butter Chicken and aromatic Chicken Biryani to flavorful vegetarian options like Dal Makhani and Paneer dishes all prepared with carefully balanced spices and high-quality ingredients. Whether you’re indulging in traditional street-food-inspired starters or rich, slow-cooked mains paired with freshly baked naans, we offer an inviting taste of India’s culinary diversity right in Paris.
