Tradition meets contemporary design
Gien’s creative universe brings together around fifty designs, from historic patterns drawn from its archives to contemporary interpretations developed in collaboration with artists and designers. These encounters offer new perspectives on the art of the table while remaining true to the Maison’s identity.
In 2023, Gien joined creative forces with French artist and designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac to create L’Archipel Sentimental. This collaboration brings together his imaginative, colourful and poetic graphic universe with the Maison’s bicentennial expertise. A meeting of two distinctive worlds, united by a shared love of art, colour and emotion.
At the heart of the collection is the colour blue, a recurring thread that connects past and present. The motifs unfold across the tableware like fragments of a poetic landscape, inviting each guest to discover their own interpretation. For Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, the table is much more than a place to gather: it is a space for conversation, emotion, love and sharing. Each plate becomes a poem, and each guest a fragment of an imaginary mosaic.
Tradition meets contemporary design

As the designer puts it, “The table is an ocean of conversations, emotions, love and sharing. Each plate is a poem. Eternal blue, a link between the past and this evening. Like a fresco that only comes to life when we gather around a meal. Each guest becomes a fragment of a mosaic called ‘Sentimental Archipelago’, born from the magical encounter between my imagination and the wonderful savoir-faire of the Faïencerie de Gien.”
With L’Archipel Sentimental, the art of the table becomes an invitation to create meaningful moments together. A distinctive collection to give, share and enjoy, bringing a touch of French creativity and craftsmanship to the festive season.
