YC Café by Yann Couvreur: the newest place to eat at Haussmann!

After opening a bakery in the Goncourt district and a second premises on Rue des Rosiers in the Marais, the pastry chef is opening his first café inside a Parisian department store. Now on Boulevard Haussmann, you can breakfast, lunch, brunch and afternoon tea on the chef’s savoury dishes and sweet treats!

Season’s best. At Yann Couvreur, you won’t see any raspberry tarts in winter. The chef only bakes with what nature has on offer.

The right amount of sweetness. From lemon tart to vanilla flan, from custard slice to chocolate eclair, all his desserts and all his cakes have just the right amount of sweetness. It’s the best way to enhance flavours.

Keep it natural. There are no flavourings or colourings in any of his recipes. It’s all natural. No tricks of the eye, nothing but the truth. The cakes and their ingredients speak for themselves.

 Product life cycle. None of the delicacies on offer contain any preservatives. Each has its own life cycle. Some desserts are also made to order.

BREAKFAST

Sacred at Yann Couvreur, breakfast is the accompaniment to Paris’ first meetings. An interlude where scrambled eggs meet delicious toasted bread. Where you can order a freshly squeezed fruit juice. A Brazilian coffee to kick-start the day. And read the daily paper. There are plenty of pastries available too, served at your table or to take away if you prefer. Choose from a flaky chocolate and pistachio roll, a slice of brioche loaf, a Gugelhupf or, the chef’s favourite, a buckwheat Kouign-Amann cake. When the weather is good, breakfast is served on the terrace, with prime seats overlooking the Palais Garnier opera house.

AFTERNOON TEA

Yann Couvreur has a selection of cakes available for afternoon tea. Mixing up commonly accepted rules of the tradition, rather than sticking with typical presentation, the chef serves his treats in a wooden cake box with different drawers each containing its own special surprise. Hot drinks by L’Arbre à Café and Parti du Thé are served alongside your indulgent time-out. There is also a cake counter, open all day long, to prolong the pleasure even further.

LUNCH

Yann Couvreur, a trained chef, proposes a fresh cooking style that uses seasonal products only. The menu includes classic ceviches, a range of tartares and risottos all elegantly presented. There is also a daily salad special. Quiches by the slice and a selection of sandwiches are available to take away. There is a vegetarian option made from fresh market vegetables, or delicious roast organic chicken with tarragon pesto, cherry and sundried tomatoes. Enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine on its own, and champagne is served all day long.

The desserts served to your table are 100% self-indulgent. Yann’s custard slice has become a signature dish, made to order, assembled from thin layers of kouign-amann and a diplomat cream made with Madagascan vanilla; a pavlova made with the latest seasonal fruits; coconut and chocolate profiteroles.

BRUNCH

On Sundays, the modern, friendly atmosphere of the YC Café invites you to enjoy a freshly made, delicious brunch. Centred around seasonal flavours, the menu offers a selection of sweet and savoury options, including a basket of home-made pastries, express desserts, freshly squeezed juices and hot drinks all served alongside your meal in this elegant, welcoming location.
